Medical City Healthcare is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technician to join our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals, operate imaging equipment, and ensure high-quality diagnostic images for accurate patient evaluation. You will follow strict safety and regulatory protocols, maintain detailed records, and collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare staff to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care. Perform a full range of nuclear medicine procedures, including general nuclear studies, cardiac imaging, and PET/CT, in accordance with physician orders and department protocols.
Prepare, calculate, verify, and administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, following radiation safety standards and hospital policies.
Operate and troubleshoot nuclear medicine cameras, PET/CT scanners, dose calibrators, and related equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
Position patients accurately and comfortably, explaining procedures and addressing questions to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, recognizing and escalating changes in patient status as needed.
Process, reconstruct, and transfer images to PACS, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and timely availability for physician interpretation.
Perform and document daily, weekly, and periodic quality control tests on imaging and radiation-measuring equipment to maintain regulatory compliance and image quality.
Maintain accurate records of radiopharmaceutical receipt, usage, disposal, and patient doses in compliance with NRC and state regulations.
Collaborate closely with radiologists, cardiologists, referring providers, nurses, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and optimize workflow.
Follow all infection prevention, safety, and emergency procedures, including safe handling of biohazardous materials and radioactive waste.
Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care to diverse patient populations, maintaining dignity, privacy, and cultural sensitivity.
Participate in ongoing education, competencies, and department initiatives to support continuous quality improvement and adoption of best practices.
Nuclear medicine imaging (SPECT/SPECT-CT, PET/CT)
Operation of gamma cameras and PET/CT scanners
Radiopharmaceutical preparation, handling, and administration
IV insertion and contrast administration
Radiation safety and ALARA principles
Image processing and post-processing software (e.g., PACS)
Patient positioning and immobilization techniques
EKG and vital sign monitoring
Quality control of imaging equipment and dose calibrators
Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation
Regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, NRC, state regs)
Infection prevention and control
Basic life support (BLS)
