- Chief Engineer
Description
The Chief Engineer (CE) will be instrumental in expanding the company’s Architect & Engineering (A&E) services within the nuclear sector. This role requires deep technical expertise and an understanding of engineering principles and methodology, regulatory compliance, client development, and strategic leadership.
The CE will be expected to develop an engineering program, build a team of qualified engineers, and pursue and obtain new business for Cavendish Nuclear USA (CNUSA).
The CE will act as the Design and Chief Technical Authority, developing and implementing an NQA-1 program and overseeing NQA-1 and compliance with government and customer requirements.
This individual will guide the A&E capability in delivering multi-discipline solutions across a broad spectrum of nuclear engineering requirements.
As this is a new and emerging area of focus within CNUSA, the CE will be the principal leader responsible for full development of a credible A&E program including corporate and field procedures, accreditations, training, testing, etc…
The CE will provide CNUSA with independent assurance in technical areas to ensure the company’s technical competence, credibility, and reputation are predictable, reliable, and sought after in the US market.
Requirements
- Decommissioning Solutions - Lead the development of decommissioning solutions covering a range of challenges such as complex waste retrieval, waste sorting and segregation, waste packing, waste treatment, decontamination, complex D&D, and contaminated fluid processing.
- Client Development and Relationship Management - Leverage an extensive industry network to secure early consultancy contracts, fostering credibility and establishing a strong presence in key sectors, particularly with DOE. Act as a trusted technical advisor, engaging with high-level stakeholders to provide insight and support for complex nuclear projects. Collaborate with Business Development to position the company’s engineering capabilities competitively, aligning technical solutions with client needs and market trends in the nuclear industry.
- Team Building and Capability Development - Recruit, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary engineering team across key disciplines, building the technical capacity to meet the demands of complex nuclear projects. Establish development pathways and succession planning within the team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on technical rigor and continuous improvement. Promote a collaborative and innovative work environment prioritizing compliance, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.
- Risk Management and Compliance Oversight - Act as the authority for risk assessment and mitigation within A&E operations. Ensure all engineering activities comply with health, safety, Security and environmental standards, proactively addressing risks through rigorous quality controls and compliance measures. Lead technical audits and quality reviews to optimize processes, reduce risks, and ensure adherence to industry best practices.
- Technical Innovation - Provide leadership in identifying and implementing advanced engineering technologies that can improve A&E performance.
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer with a degree in a relevant engineering discipline; advanced certifications or training in nuclear regulatory compliance.
Experience:
- Proven ability to secure and manage high-level client relationships, particularly with regulatory bodies and DOE clients.
- Extensive experience in the nuclear sector with demonstrated expertise in effectively developing and administering decommissioning solutions.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering team development and development of a credible engineering program.
- Demonstrated experience in developing an effective technical risk management program and ensuring compliance with various regulatory and technical requirements.

- Leadership and Communication: Exceptional leadership skills, adept at managing high-caliber engineering teams and effectively engaging with clients, affiliates, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in industry-standard engineering tools and quality management systems, including SolidWorks, Mathcad, FEA, and digital engineering solutions to enhance workflow efficiency.

Special Requirements:
